The English and Creative Writing departments at Waldorf College are small, but with classes averaging 10-12 students they allow for personalized attention, peer interaction, and one-on-one communication with professors.
Students in the English program will have the opportunity to dive into literature from the past and present and will be challenged to both analyze and express ideas, all the while discovering what it means to be human.
The English Department offers three majors:
- English
- English Secondary Education
- Creative Writing
Minor Programs:
- English
- Creative Writing
- Technical Writing
Certificates:
- Technical Writing
With the Secondary English Education major, students will take teacher-education classes along with English classes to foster a connection between the disciplines. Students will have opportunities for classroom observations and clinical hours to provide hands-on experience in preparation for a future teaching career.
The English and Creative Writing majors have classes that overlap in order to develop a stronger relationship between reading and writing. These majors also have an embedded Humanities minor that will expose students to art, music, theater, philosophy, religion, and history which will help students cover a wide range of genres, time periods, and nationalities.
